Ekaterina Kosevich

I am a political scientist and an International Relations scholar specializing in Russia’s foreign policy, Latin American politics, and global governance. I am currently a Leading Researcher at HSE University and an affiliated researcher at the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow). My research focuses on Russia–Latin America relations, extra-regional powers in Latin America, foreign policy analysis, and the intersection of politics, history, and international law.

Research and Publications
My academic work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals in English, Spanish, and Russian, including Latin American Perspectives, Area Development and Policy, Russian Politics, Demokratizatsiya, and América Latina en la Historia Económica. I am the author of several monographs, including Extra-regional Powers in Latin America: The Impact of the U.S., EU, China, and Russia (Brill, 2024). I have also led multiple internationally funded research projects as a Principal Investigator (PI), with a total budget exceeding $400,000. My Russian-language publications have received awards from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and HSE University (Moscow) for outstanding analytical scholarship and excellence in academic writing.
Teaching and Engagements
I have also been a guest lecturer at the University of Florida, the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, the University of Buenos Aires, the University of Brasília, and the Autonomous University of Madrid.
Education and Languages
I received my PhD in Political Science from the Russian Academy of Sciences, with earlier training in international law. I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Russian, with a working knowledge of Portuguese.
